Biserica Sfântul Nicolae Domnesc

Founded by Stephen the Great, this is the oldest surviving church in Iași. It was the court church of the rulers of Moldavia: the voivodes were anointed here during the period when the city was the principality's capital. Its value lies not in size but in age and in the role it played — it is the most direct witness to medieval Iași.
