Where to park during the pilgrimage
The short answer: not near the cathedral. Here are the four options in the order they actually work, with what each costs and how you reach the queue from there.

Do not bring the car into the city at all
If you are coming from outside Iași, leave the car at home and take the train. The station is within walking distance of the centre, and on peak days that is an advantage no car park can give you.

Park in a district and take the tram
Leave the car in Păcurari, Tătărași or Nicolina, where parking is far easier, and come in by tram. A CTP ticket costs 4 lei and is valid 120 minutes. During the feast the tram reaches the queue faster than a car.

Paid parking at the edge of the central zone
The central tariff is 7 lei an hour, Monday to Saturday 08:00–20:00, free otherwise and on Sundays. Payment is by app. This works if you accept walking the last stretch — and that the last stretch may be longer than you expect.

Driving up to the cathedral
The streets around the cathedral close, traffic is diverted, and the area becomes effectively unreachable by car. The most common bad outcome is arriving in the area, being able to neither park nor turn around, and losing an hour you could have spent in the queue.
We do not publish a closure map. Which streets close, and when, is decided and announced locally, close to the date, and changes year to year. A wrong map sends someone into a blocked street with a car full of luggage — check the city hall and police announcements, and the Metropolis for anything touching access to the cathedral: Mitropolia Moldovei și Bucovinei →
