Mănăstirea Cetățuia

A fortified monastery on Cetățuia hill, south of the centre, raised in the seventeenth century. It has a walled enclosure and a tower, built in a period when the monasteries around the Moldavian capital also served as refuges and lookout points. It offers one of the best views over Iași — worth the climb for that alone, particularly towards sunset. The exact location is on the map on this page; public transport gets you there from the centre in a few stops, and a CTP ticket costs 4 lei, valid 120 minutes.
