Bus 50 — the cheapest option
The route: Aeroport – Târgu Cucu – Piața Unirii – Gara.

Taxi
There is a rank right outside the terminal. It is only 8 km, so the ride is short.
The basic rule: only get into taxis with the fare displayed on the door, and ask for the meter. Avoid drivers who approach you inside the terminal — the classic airport trap, in Iași as everywhere.
Bolt and Uber
Both operate in Iași. The advantage over a taxi is that the price is known in advance, so there is no discussion. This is what we would recommend if you have luggage or arrive at night.
Private transfer
A fixed-price car booked in advance. Worth it if you are a group, have a lot of luggage, or land at an hour when you do not want to negotiate anything with anyone.

Why this is simpler than at other Romanian airports
Eight kilometres. That is the whole explanation. For comparison, the trip from Otopeni into central Bucharest is 17 kilometres and, in traffic, can exceed an hour. In Iași, the slowest option — the bus, with stops — takes twenty minutes.
The practical consequence: you do not need a pre-booked private transfer, unless you have a lot of luggage or arrive at an impossible hour. A bus or a ride ordered in an app solves everything.
What to do if you have a train straight after
Line 50 runs to the railway station, not just to the centre, and the trip takes about 25 minutes. If your train leaves less than an hour after landing, still allow a margin: the bus runs every 30 minutes, so at worst you wait an extra half hour.
Alternatively, a taxi or a Bolt ride takes you straight to the station without depending on a timetable.

With one or two large suitcases. Here the bus becomes awkward rather than impossible. Hit rush hour and you are boarding a full vehicle with your bags. Ridesharing solves that for a sum that stays small over a distance this short.
Three or four of you. The maths inverts: split four ways, a Bolt ride costs about the same per head as a bus ticket and drops you at the door. For a group with luggage there is no case for the bus.
With a small child and a pushchair. Ridesharing or a taxi. A folded pushchair plus the child plus the bags on a rush-hour bus is an experience we would not wish on anyone.

First: people assume a small airport means a complicated transfer. It is the opposite — the short distance makes every option acceptable, including the cheapest one.
Second: booking a private transfer for a journey under half an hour. That makes sense 40 kilometres out of town, not eight.
Third: renting a car for a stay spent entirely in the centre. Central parking is paid on weekdays, and the city works on foot. A car earns its keep only if you leave Iași — for the county's monasteries or the vineyards.
